Vote “NO” on Article 1

Freetown Special Town Meeting

Monday, June 16, at 7 pm

(**Please arrive at 6:45 pm; Article 1 first on the warrant**)

Dear Freetown Neighbors, your vote is needed to ensure that Cape Cod Aggregates (CCA) does not fall victim to a petition article on the Monday, June 16, Special Town Meeting Warrant.
CCA operates a successful business in Freetown in full compliance with all federal, state and local regulations including a carefully conditioned permit from the SOIL CONSERVATION BOARD.

As local businesses, we fully support the work of Cape Cod Aggregates. There is no rational basis for this bylaw, other than to harm a local business.

  • Article 1 threatens business in Freetown, and is BASED ON FEAR, NOT FACT, lowering the commercial tax base to the detriment of all residents and other businesses.
  • If passed Article 1 would target Cape Cod Aggregates, and could serve as precedent for action against other business operations in the community
  • CCA has paid more than $600,000 in taxes, fees and permits over the last 6 years.
  • CCA donates generously to the Freetown Youth Athletic Association (FYAA), and to the town’s highly respected and eagerly anticipated annual July 4 parade and fireworks, and many other organizations in Freetown, including the Freetown Cemetery Committee, Freetown Police and the VFW.
  • Article 1 is based on misrepresentations and misinformation ALL of which were proven false by state and local officials, including the local SOIL CONSERVATION BOARD and MA DEP.

Please vote “NO” Article 1. It’s unfair, bad precedent, and it will hurt Freetown.

Dear Neighbor,

My name is Sam Lorusso, I am a third generation owner of Cape Cod Aggregates (CCA), I own the business with my brother, Tony, my three children, Laura, Sam Jr., and Paul, and my nephew, AJ.
Our business is being threatened by a small group of neighbors who want to amend an existing bylaw, effectively taking away CCA’s right to operate. For generations, my family and I have worked hard to build and maintain a successful company with an outstanding reputation both in our industry and the community. If approved, this amendment would jeopardize decades of hard work and commitment, by my family and our employees — a commitment that has given us an opportunity to serve your hard working community.

Please stand with me and the local businesses listed below and Vote “No” on Article 1 of the Annual/Special Town Meeting, 7 pm, Monday, June 16 at the Freetown Elementary School.
Please arrive early; we’re first on the warrant.

Sincerely, Sam Lorusso, Owner, Cape Cod Aggregates
